Gama Space is building spacecraft powered by solar sails, an elegant and fuel-free propulsion technology that uses the momentum of photons to navigate through space. Where chemical and electric propulsion systems are too costly and limited for deep space, solar sails offer free and continuous acceleration with no fuel required. Gama also produces low-cost drag sail deorbitation devices, addressing the urgent and growing problem of space debris. The company collaborates closely with CNES and DLR, and launched its first satellite to orbit aboard a SpaceX rocket. Gama is backed by Kima, Possible Ventures, Alexandre Berriche, and Romain Afflelou, and is headquartered in Ivry-sur-Seine, France.
